(Wow... A religious quandary spurred on by a Jimmy Carr one-liner...)
The way I see it, Jesus was a radical. This made the reigning government (it was Rome, right?) a bit uncomfortable, so they killed him, a situation which applies to modern society again and again. The end.
Now, I'm not an atheist, or satanist, or anything, but... Personally, I think the whole "son of God" thing is stretching it a bit. I believe that Jesus existed, but everything else seems a bit iffy to me.

Do any of you remember the phrase "Don't always believe what you read"? Well, my little sister always nags on about God and Jesus and how they did all of those great things. Everytime she does I bring that little phrase into the conversation, because someone had to write the Bible, it could all be true, and it could all be a fiction.

I've got a friend who says the Christian religion is a huge, overblown CULT, and frankly, I agree with him. It was all started because of one person right? I think that one person, "Jesus", used the thought of God sending the "messia", I probably spelled it wrong, to his advantage claiming he was the Son of God.
